Easy home renovating suggests for Outdoor living

Land is very expensive, but it is often very poorly utilised. The idea of ‘outdoor rooms’ is now a well established idea, but it’s not just a matter of planting a few shrubs to hide the neighbours. An outdoor room needs to be designed with the rest of the home in mind.

Just like any other renovation project, a renovation company will take care of the entire design and build process. A well designed and built outdoor room will make the house feel larger, and will ensure that you make great use of all your valuable land. It’s useful to think in terms of ‘hardscaping’ and ‘softscaping’. Hardscaping is about getting the physical structure sorted out (e.g. decks, retaining, drainage, lighting, fencing etc), softscaping deals with plantings.

A renovation company can be very cost effective. Because of our scale and industry partnerships we buy at a better rate than typical renovation builders and can therefore be more cost effective for our customers.

Lowes/Masters Home Improvement Store, easy home renovating

May 9, 2011 by Tim

The advent of the new Lowes inspired Masters Home Improvement, store to open by First of September, will impose impossible pressures on the small independent hardware stores and Mitre10 stores. Geoff Dart, from Madison Cross, Corporate Advisory, say the market share of independents will fall from 35% to 20%: while the market share of Lowes/Masters and the Home Depot clone, Bunnings, rises to 80%. Industry profit margins will also be squeezed by competition. This could easily see the entire demise of Mitre10 chain of stores. Bunnings is in the process of launching Kitchen and pool fencing products in order to compete with the new Lowes/Masters stores. Lowes/Masters stores will have a wider range than Bunnings, including kitchen appliances, floor coverings, Home decore, outdoor furniture and children’s play equipment.
For easy home renovating the future is brighter, as the increased competition should lower building product costs. This will be particulary the case in whitegoods, plumbing, Bathrooms, where Australia has been poorly served in the past. Take Dishwashers for less than $400, Freestanding bath for less than $650. Masters stores are pitched to appeal to a wider consumer public, with more inclusive products for women, like Bathroom and Kitchen designs and home decor products.

Easy home renovating, notes value for your renovating

Many people work to a budget, below, I note three common budget levels.
1 For $10,000, it buys you cosmetic decorating, or landscaping, polishing floorboards, new floor coverings, street appeal, like a letterbox, painting, paving and planting. So some landscaping, painting and floor coverings, stretch this $10,000 budget.
2 Budget of $10,000 to $50,000. At his level you will get a major rebuild of the Kitchen or Bathroom. A Bathroom will cost between $10,000 to $15,000, while a Kitchen, will need between $20,000 to $30,000. Its enough for an Outdoor room, deck and outdoor Kitchen, plus Landscaping with all the extras.
3 Budget of $50,000 plus. At his level you will afford structural renovations, like an upper story room. When you are adding to the building envelope, you will need all plans and permits. Note a careful specification of the “Body of Works” will allow you to monitor the building contractors costs.
Archicentre produces these estimates fro the cost of improvements. They will give you a free first design assessment, before referring you onto an Architect. I have been lucky to discover some great handymen types who have built me great projects, at a fair price.

Archicentre, gives some insights here into current trends.

1  Linking the living area to an outdoor deck via a large sliding window. Open up the back of the home to the garden by introducing bi-fold doors, leading to the deck, pool or garden for relaxing and outdoor living.

2  Introduce new or enlarged windows to take advantage of the views or garden outlooks.
3  Redevelop the Kitchen, to link the window view to the garden or courtyards.

4  The Bathroom can also have large windows, given new window treatment to retain privacy.

5  Baby boomer households are leading a trend to healthy living, with emphasis on natural light, fresh air and noise control. This leads to homes with outside dining and entertainment areas.

6 Modernising the home can be as simple as providing a refreshed look by rendering or painting the outside.

7 A Parents retreat, can have new features like a Balcony or doors leading to a private courtyard.Parents get their own private outdoor area.

Some ideas for adding interest to your outdoor area,  Barbeque, Umbrellas, Sunbed, dining setting, firepit, plunge pool, fountain, reading table or pool.
