Carbon tax effects new home pirces

There is such a wide range of views and tax rates, from $10 to 100 a tonne, no definitive answer can be made. Except the carbon tax is likely to be heavy, as so many building products are energy intensive, like brick, cement, steel, glass, aluminium, site preparation and fuel. National Builders, Barry Suckling estimates the new carbon tax will add between $12,000 to $15,000 to a new home. HIA boss Shane Goodwin, says the home building industry should be heavily compensated. He warns of a likely bias towards, second hand energy inefficient, existing home stock. This outcome would be counter productive, he says. A likely outcome will be a move to composite board wall products, installation of double glazing and wall, floor, ceiling insulation.
My view is a whole range of more energy efficient products and innovative building techniques should reduce the adverse pricing cost of the new carbon tax. In fairness, First Home Buyers should be given a higher first home grant, though currently, there is no plan for this fair outcome. The government has not yet negotiated a clear tax, this should be revealed in July, an will it get through the Parliament, and any amendments?
It is clear that energy, particularly electricity will be much more expensive. So one can take action now, by selecting energy saving measures, see, Environmental Features from my website, use the search area for your selection.

Inflector promises sound great, via easy home renovating

SOLARIZE WINDOW INSULATORS, is a certified manufacturer and master distributor of the Solarize Window Insulators in the Northeast.
Why you should consider the Solarize Window Insulators?
Glass windows are the weakest energy link in every building envelope; single pane glass has an R value of less than 1 and thermo pane windows have an R-Value of less than 3. Most importantly, glass windows by themselves are not able to compensate for cold conduction loss and capture solar heat gain at the same time, or reduce solar heat gain in the warm months. The Solarize Insulated Window will address these year round climate issues. You simply position the inflector so as to capture solar energy when you want it, or reflect it away when it’s not desired and in either position you also reduce solar glare and reduce UV damage by over 90%.
Windows are designed to allow natural light in and for the occupants to see out. Many studies have proven adverse effects for building occupants if windows are blocked. A Solarize Window Insulator is translucent, so you can save energy 24/7 and yet still enjoy your views.
What Is The Inflector Product?
The see through inflector product is a patented process of a metallized coated polyethylene sheet which is laminated to a sheet of carbon granite, that is then perforated and laminated to a sheet of clear polyester.
The unique benefit of the inflector products is that each side of the inflector material provides different benefits for different parts of the country, in different climates and in all seasons.
The metallic or shiny side of the inflector is the primary energy part. Using the radiant heat principal, this shiny side is positioned facing inwardly during the heating season and outwardly during the warmer or summer seasons. Tests have proven that when positioned inwardly inward in heating seasons, it will perform as a thermal barrier, keeping your heated room temperature from being cooled against the cold glass. It does this by reflecting your rooms’ heat away from it’s surface. In summer seasons the metallic side is positioned outwardly to reflect the suns’ energy or heat gain away from the inside of the building.
The dark non-reflective side of the inflector, when facing outward in the heating season, will absorb the suns’ energy and transfer it into the heated room, in essence becoming a passive solar collector.
What the Solarize Inflector System will do:
- Becomes a thermal barrier between the cold window temperature and your room temperature.
- Stabilizes inside temperatures, which improves overall comfort and reduces heating/cooling costs.
- In cold climates, the inflector becomes a passive solar heat source for all windows facing the sun which will provide free heat on sunny days. In the summer, you simply reverse the inflector to keep solar heat out and make your rooms cooler and more comfortable.
- Reduces solar and reflective glare & blocks up to 90% of harmful UV rays.
- See through material keeps rooms bright by allowing natural light inside.
- Inflector will improve the energy performance of a single pane window by over 70%!
- Inflector will improve the energy performance of a double or insulated glass window by over 40%!!

Although the environmental benefits of ‘going solar’ are well known (e.g. – a renewable energy source), very little is understood about the financial benefits of a home solar energy system.
The costs of solar panels have come down considerably in the last few years. An more recently , some breakthrough technology is increasing the conversion efficacy of the solar panels, so make sure you get the best latest tchnology panels.
Add this to the huge government rebates on offer and the potential to make money selling your excess energy…and you’ve got a formula for a great return on investment.
Here is our simple summary of “The maths” for you to consider:
Understanding electricity costs
There is more to choosing electricity suppliers than just finding cheap electricity prices.
Payment options
Solar Shop Australia developed a finance package for the Green Energy market (solar panels, solar heating systems, wind power, etc…) with discounted interest rates and $0 deposit
Government incentives
Government incentives are available in several forms and differ according to your location.

One of the best improvements from comfort and peace, is double glazed windows. It can be argued that improving the energy efficiency of your windows through double glazing is the best and easiest way to improve the home energy rating. A home can have its energy rating lifted dramaticly, with energy efficient, double glazing.
Major features they impart include – Energy savings will help pay for the window, Sound reduction of up to 90%, easy to maintain UPC, improved security. Given the higher Australian dollar, imported windows are now much more affordable.
Nu-Eco make a top quality window fully imported from the UK. Check your windows are treated with Low E glass and have the widest air gap between panes, for best efficiancy. They are available in a wide color window frame range, from quality UPC frames.
The advent of imported double glazed windows from China, should cause a lowering in the cost of competing product in Australia. The new Lowes/Masters store opening, due in Braybrook, September,2011, should also create real competition for Bunnings
