Cooperative Banking, or the Vietnamese Banking model?

Some 20 years ago, I happened to be driving through the inner city suburb of Burnley, in Inner Melbourne. I noticed about 25 Asian men  leaving a small terrace in the early morning.  I wondered, What is going on here?
This seems like a large number of men in  just one small house.
After some enquiries. I discovered that in the Vietnamese world. If the men don’t have jobs and the banks aren’t keen to lend.
The men work a cooperative banking system. This is where they pool their social security payments each week. Then “Jackpot ” it once a year. The winner is required to employ one of the contributors in a business that he buys, say a hot bread business. Then each year the  pooling of contributions and the “Jackpot” is continued, until they all have a business.

In this manner they are running their own bank.
What has this got to do with  easy home renovating? Well, it just highlights the ability of some people to cooperate to achieve their goals. In Australia, after this latest banking crisis, Banks will be demanding tighter credit criteria. Options still exist like the “Shared Equity “Home Loan fron the Bendigo Bank.
Of course, there is so much more at the FREE ebook site

Renovating into the future home

Rather than worry constantly, about rising interest rates, government taxes, foreign wars or the price of gold. What can we see ahead for the prospects of profitable renovation? What can make it easy for home renovating?  What’s a man to do when the sharemarket is so volatile?

Here, I am noting that the corporate sector is making big investments. Bunnings have public plans to spend billions building new stores.  Reading today, that Bunnings is worth $8.6 billion to Wesfarmers, at the moment.  Metcash are taking over the Mitre 10 stores, for billions of  money. Woolworths are joint venturing with Lowes (USA Hardware stores) in order, to spend billions, building new hardware stores. Well, it looks like the big boys are spending up big on hardware for the home, gardening and renovating sector!!! As they say on CSI , follow the money trail of evidence.

A BBQ work day, for home renovating?

January 18, 2010 by Tim

This is when one invites 25 of your favourite pals around to assist on your home project.
I recall, working on one of these, we removed all the outside weatherboards, measured and nailed on all the new boards, and painted half the house. This was all done in ONE day. USUALLY, If the owner provides the lunch as the incentive.
Given we had twelve workers turn up, ALL this was achieved in ONE day, and we watched the football finals. It turned out easy.

This is hardly unique, as in the nineteen fifties, there was a severe building products and tradespersons shortage.
This was extremely popular. For more stuff try downloading  the FREE  ebook!!!
I predict it will be popular again. Why?, well the cost of new  home building is rising all the time as higher standards and environmental features are required. The older homes tend to be much  closer to good transport links.

In an ideal world, everyone participates in working around the entire group, over time. Thus everyone can benefit somwhat, equally.
Try it, its a great cost savings idea.!!! It can make life easy, for those home renovating!
