I suggest below some EASY measures where a home renovating person can achieve a Bonus above a normal deal. I have saved heaps with these most obvious areas suggested below.
1 Aim your renovating via largely, cosmetic repairs, such as, painting, cleaning. Thus avoiding the complexity of structural renovations. My emphasis here, is to not over spend on the home. I like to limit myself to spending under 5% of the total capital value.
2 Buy your materials in bulk and have them delivered by the Hardware store. A One Stop Shop Hardware can save you both time and money!! This has saved me thousands per home renovating project.
3 Buy your paint in bulk for discounts. Your time is TOO valuable to be running back to the paint shop.
4 Employ a team of tradespeople and professionals. Even consider the Grey army or Jims at a pinch. The Tradies, can teach you how to do their work.
5 Research government grants and rebates for energy efficiency measures. These are available at all three levels of government.
6 Buy your interior design accessories, from Direct Factory Outlets or Liquidation sales. Buy your garden features from a salvage yard,Sunday market or garage sale.
7 Arrange a working bee, BBQ day with some pals to achieve rapid progress in simple renovation areas. They do the work you, supply the bbq.! Working with a large group , you become the Project Manager , and you get heaps done.
8 Join a “local property club”, in order to, workshop ideas.Like www.tic.com.au! Learn from others, rather than have to make ALL the mistakes , at your own expense
9 Learn trades skills from a local TAFE college. These are excellent value, and you will meet like minded people.
10 Enrol in a Real Estate Agency short course. It can be as short as 30 course hours, plus required reading. These are heavily subsidized by government, thus you get great value.

Who wants to learn Trades kills , why cant the tradesmen be accountable?
Like on time , on budget and spot on with the quality. ?
The answer for Tom and others: is unfortunately, Tradespoeple have an irregular work schedule. One way to hold them fully accountable is to be able to start the relevant work yourself, when they dont turn up on time, charge too much, or perform shoddy work.
Thank you for this information, it is great to see you offering a site to make it easier for novices to tackle renovating. I have renovated 7 investment properties through creative shopping. In Perth the Quokka, and the 6PR Radio Buy Swap and Sell show are my greatest assets…amazing finds!
