The Australian government introduced the Commercial Building Energy Efficiency Bill toParliament in March, 2010. This requires offices and commercial buildings to reveal a Commercial Disclosure Certificate rating of the buildings energy efficiency when it is for sale or rent. This is an obvious precursor to a similar ratings for homes. These have been introduced in both the UK, ACT, Ireland. From May 2011, one will be required to show the Energy Disclosure rating, when selling or renting a home, as made by an Accredited Energy Assessor. Most homes in Melbourne would have an energy star rating of close to two and a half, while the aim for new homes is six stars. This is just the sort of stuff agreed at C.O.A.G. meeting and filtered out to us the general public, gradually. Reference www.energymakeovers.com.au
